Winnie has had a pretty rubbish childhood since the death of her father. She had to move into a real rough trailer park with her dads girlfriend and is just about getting by. Her only friend Trey that looked after her when her dad died has long gone and she doesn’t know if she will ever see him again. To make ends meat she has given in and started to waitress at The Whip the local club where the goings on are best left unsaid. Winnie is befriended by a guy from her school who works the kitchens of the whip and he tries to take her under his wing. Unfortunately as Winnie has been taken advantage of by men she struggles to let her barriers down. Why would anyone want to be her friend or even love her?

This is my first read from this author and the first book of a duet. I didn’t know much going into the story and from the title had assumed it would be a romance. How wrong I was. I think there will be elements of that over the 2 books but also there’s a lot of darkness and sadness when it comes to Winnie’s life. I really felt for her character and I really hope Trey comes to the rescue and she finally gets the life she deserves as she really doesn’t deserve the cards she’s been dealt. The pages kept me turning and the pace was fast and I really enjoyed this. I will certainly be picking up more from this author.

Inferno Part 2

Inferno part 2 picks right back up from the cliff hanger we finished on in the previous book. Throughout this story we see Ellie and Dante’s relationship develop and Ellie struggles whether to open up to Dante fully and stay in Italy or go home and face the music.

There are lots more twists and turns in this story as well as more character development for both Ellie and Dante. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to move onto part 3.

Part 3 picks up where we left in the last book and Ellie has taken fates decision and gone home to LA. She is miserable but feels she needs to get back on with life without Dante and get back to reality. She also feels the need to start looking into Lily’s death and finding out her fathers role in it all. Will she and Dante find themselves back in each others arms? I really hope so.

I flew through this instalment just as quickly as the rest. Ellie was frustrating at times almost trying to go against fate when every time it tried to pull her back to Dante. I can’t wait to find out how all the characters are involved in the corruption of the FDA and will Ellie and Dante have a happily ever after. Off to one click the final instalment now.

The final instalment in the inferno series and all I can say is wow!! This book has twists and turns, some of which I saw coming others were massive OMG moments. We finally find out who is behind the corruption leading to the tragedy in Dante’s life and Ellie finally gets answers to the questions she had always had about her parents.

I can thoroughly recommend this series if you want something to sink your teeth into. Hot and steamy but also dark and gritty in places. Amazing.

Hot and Badgered was a fun book to read another 5 star read from a favourite author.  My only disappointment as ever with an SL book is that it is all fiction and one of her hot hero’s  won’t find his way to me.

I’ve become a prisoner in my own body, held captive by my thoughts. Without a TV, there’s not much to
do besides write, draw, and think. When I run out of paper, I get antsy, and I talk to Dad, praying he’s
watching over me. Because, no matter how hard I try to block out the noise, the inside of my brain feels
like a cluttered junk drawer full of odds and ends that don’t matter. A bunch of trash that’s stuck in a
small space with no purpose.
Sometimes, the voices are so loud, I pace in circles until the ratty carpet fibers stop laughing at me. If I
don’t, I’ll end up in the bathroom with the blade against my thigh. On days when I can’t get the chatter
to stop, I run the smooth metal over my skin and watch the blood seep out.
Blood—the lifeline that unites a family.
All my family is dead or gone.

God, I hate the sight of blood. The smell. The consistency. The way it smears and stains everything it
touches. But, once the blade touches my skin, I forget about Tess and how little I have. Suddenly, that
little cut is all I can think about, and I love the way it silences the screaming inside my head.
For those few seconds of peace, I forget that Dad’s not coming back, that Trey is gone, and how Tess
isn’t ever going to be the mother I need her to be. I’m no longer lonely and afraid. I’m the girl who looks
in the mirror and likes what she sees.
I am me. Nobody else.
