I take a deep breath and slowly exhale. When I turn back around, I find I’m still being watched. “And who are you?” I question as his eyes dance back and forth while a slow sensual smile takes over his gorgeous face.
I don’t date. I don’t have time in my life for a man, and when I go out looking for a way to relieve my sexual tension, I don’t choose men who have legs the size of tree trunks. But this one happens to turn me on in a way I haven’t experienced in years. If we were back in New York, I’d be willing to give him a try—just for one night.
“I’m Jake Girard.” He sticks out his hand to greet me.
When I slip my fingers into his, the hair on my arm stands to attention.
“Nice to meet you,” he drawls.
My breath gets caught in my throat as I stare at his lips.
“And you are…?” He trails off as my brain desperately tries to remember what he asked me.
“I’m Lacey Davis.”
“Well, Ms. Davis, it’s damn nice to meet you.” My eyes widen as he crosses his colossal arms over his chest.
“You must work out. A lot.”
Jake smiles as he rubs his jaw. “You really don’t know who I am?”
I step back as my eyes roam down his body once more. Nope…I would definitely remember meeting this man. I shrug, hoping I appear unimpressed. “Why would I know you?”
He studies me closely. “You’re from New York, correct?”
“Yes…”
“New York happens to have two NFL teams. Are you seriously telling me you never watch football?”
“Football?” I distractedly question.
“Yes. I’m Chase’s friend, but I’m also his teammate. I play for the Arizona Cardinals,” he proudly states, to which my mouth drops open. He’s a football player. He’s a humongous football player who thought I would recognize him from either his face or name.
“Nope…” I pop the P louder than necessary. “Never heard of you before. I guess out of the almost nine million people who live in New York, you were bound to find someone who doesn’t give a damn about football.”

“You want to tell me why you’re here?” She tilts her head back, gracing me with the view of those beautiful blue eyes.
My lips quirk up into a smile. “I told you already. My dick misses you. I tried to tell him you aren’t interested in a repeat, but he wasn’t convinced.”
“You’re seriously talking about your dick as though it’s a person? I thought only horny teenagers did shit like that?” She raises an eyebrow before pushing herself off my lap.
“What can I say, around you that’s exactly how I feel.” I might be smirking, but I’m not joking. All I have to do is think about her and I’m rock hard. “I’ve already agreed to be your dirty little secret, so what’s the big deal? I’m going to be in town for…a few more days. A week or so tops, so I don’t really see what the problem is.”
Her eyes dart around the room before finally stopping on me. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
“Why not?” I counter. “We’ve already been together, and it’s not like I’m asking you to skip work or even fucking date me.” I attempt to keep the frustration out of my voice, but this woman is starting to drive me crazy.
“Look, it’s not you, it’s me—” She stops talking when I fall back onto her bed in laughter. I end up laughing so hard I have to wipe my eyes.
“Do you have any idea how many times I’ve had to say that? Shit, the irony here is classic.”
“I’m serious, Girard.”
“So am I, Davis.” I hate it when she calls me Girard. I want to be more than just a football player in her eyes.
“You’re just not my type,” she adds in a lame attempt to prove some point about us not being together.
“I’m not asking to marry you, Davis. I just want to fuck your brains out for a few days before I fly back to my side of the country.”

Although this story is a standalone we meet characters Jake and Lacey whom we were briefly introduced to in LIving with Regret as best friends of football star Chase and Jordan. In this story we start where Living with Regret ended and fire cracker Lacey has gone to save her best friend Jordan from making another mistake and taking back old flame Chase after he has an injury leaving him with memory loss of the last 10 years and he doesn't remember that he and Jordan ever split up. In Lacey's quest she meets Chase's best friend Jake and man is he hot but there is no way she is ever getting involved with a guy like Jake again after last time...
Jake doesn't do girlfriends and never goes back for a 'repeat' but when he meets Lacey there is something different about her that he just cant shake. He thinks that if he goes there that will shake these thoughts and he can move on, how wrong he was he needs her even more now! We follow Jake in his mission to win the girl and Lacey in her attempts to steer clear but it's so damn hard when the guy is sex on legs. Will Jake get the girl and will Lacey be able to rid herself of the demons in her past?
Well yet again this was an absolute amazing read from Riann. I couldn't wait to get this bad boy started and read it in 2 sittings. I love the way she writes all her characters and man I wish Jake was real I'd certainly keep him around, if you know what I mean ;) The story was fast paced and kept me hooked all the way through. As I said earlier this book is a standalone but if you have read Living with Regret then you will already know Chase and Jordan which made for a nicer read in my opinion, having already known the characters but it's not essential to read this story. I cant wait to read what she has in store next.
