The first book in a brand new series from Maggie Ryan and Alta Hensley this book was actually my first book by both authors. A spy/soldier of fortune novel this book was James Bond meets thunderbirds following the family of Steele Men a father and his 3 sons who having experienced devastating loss at the hands of a terror organisation?enemy's of the government? Organised crime syndicate I'm not exactly sure and hopefully this will be explained in future books.

When tragedy strikes Adira is left alone in a hostile world her family struck down by unknown enemies. Saved by the quick thinking of Maddox Steele and his father she is smuggled out of the country whilst the Maddox men figure out who in the shady underworld struck against her family. Full of suspense and intrigue this book is a hot read that left me with more questions than answers, these questions will hopefully be answered by the other books in the series telling the stories of Maddox's brothers.

In general the book was well written but I just couldn't connect with the characters I liked the feisty nature of Adira but it disappeared under the weight of Maddox dominance. Their relationship developing into BDSM almost straight away with the exotic beauty fully under the Dom's spell, for me there was no real transition into the Dom/Sub relationship which felt rushed when you consider that this was Adira first sexual encounter.  BDSM isn't my favourite read, it just doesn't get my motor running and the scenes in this book are hot erotic from the start but they just didn't work for me. If you like Mystery and suspense with a dominant twist this book is for you.
