A huge, wide porch with pillars looks to encompass the entire place. Mums line whiskey barrels and give the clean exterior pops of burgundy, orange, and yellow. It’s breathtaking.

This book made my day! Swing was just the right mix of fun and frivolity this sports romance had me turning the pages desperate to find out Dani and Lincolns story. The second book in Adriana Locke's Landry series this was my first introduction to the Landry's and boy do I want more. I always worry with series where they claim it can be read as a standalone, having been burnt before not knowing who the characters were as I began the 3rd book in a series. However with Swing there were no issues despite not having read Sway I was easily drawn into the story.

Baseball star Lincoln Landry is potentially looking at the end of his career thanks to an injury. Struggling with an identity crisis, Athlete Lincoln doesn't know what he would be without baseball. It’s probably good I can’t see his face ... I’m already a complete ball of nervous energy, have been all week. With my eyes covered, it’s easier to pretend this is a dream.
“And what are we doing in your apartment?” I ask, knowing I’m already here. Cooper’s place smells different, cedar and coffee to my rosemary and basil. His place is a lower temperature, and the floors are all hardwood here.
“We are going to start your list, Gracie.” His hands are on my face, cupping my cheeks, his mouth so close to mine. I feel his words as they brush against my lips and I inhale sharply realizing this is it.
Cooper is going to kiss me.
The list is real. NYE wasn’t a dream.  And he is in control.
“Do you still want to do this?” he asks. His hands move from my cheeks to the base of my neck, and he somehow manages to lift my chin as I sink into his hold.
“What do you think?” I say breathless and hot. Realizing I want this so badly. In ways I have never expressed to anyone because how exactly do you tell someone you are horny as hell without looking a little bit crazy?
But I am.
“I think you’ve been waiting for me to show up for two weeks straight. I think you’ve been staring at the little list of yours, fantasizing about what we would do first.”
“And did you decide?” I ask, swallowing, my chest pounding and my heart whole.
“Yes. I thought long and hard, Gracie.”

My second Frankie Love book and by far the better book Kinky Resolutions was a brilliant read I couldn't get enough or Gracie and Coopers story. What a difference between the 2 books so much so that I didn't even realise they were by the same author until I hit my good reads page to review. Full of humour and literal LOL moments I couldn't put Kinky Resolutions and other New Years disasters down once I started I had to finish it, and I wanted to read more of the supporting characters stories too always a good sign for me.

Well I am so glad I gave Frankie Love another chance. I'll be honest I was ready to mark her a dud for me as an author, however Kinky Resolutions is proof that you should always read more than 1 of an authors books before making a choice as to whether they are for you.  I loved this book, I was engaged from the start it was hot which you would expect with a title like Kinky Resolutions and I couldn't get enough 5 stars.

This is the story of Grace a woman who's taking her life into her own hands fed up with being used by the men in her life to get close to her father or for their own game she along with her 2 friends develop the Test, screw, dump policy and luckily for her the first candidate that crosses her path is the dishy Luke. But what Grace thinks is a chance meeting is more calculated on Luke's part. With steamy scenes that will leave you sighing with jealousy wishing for a Luke of your very own. This book is well written there are no oh why did the author put that moments or I wish this had been beta read by more people.

Plot and story line this book is 5 star but I struggled reading this book, my first by Wendy Byrne for whatever reason I just couldn't quite make the leap to love with this read.  Unfortunately I just can't figure out the reason why I didn't find that connection instead of feeling like an escape it felt like hard work. I'm not sure why as I liked the characters, the heroine Grace Wilson was feisty and I enjoyed the way she and her 2 besties set out the rules for the TSD. The hero Luke McCll was all hotness and sex on a stick. Let's face it we all want that sexy man who knows how to move in and out of the bedroom but this book for me was a take it or leave it read, you know the type. Those books where there's nothing wrong with them book but you just don't feel the connection to what the authors written.

Seven years ago

It’s my fault.
It’s always my fault.
Samuel Michaels picked up the bottle of Jack Daniel’s from the passenger seat. It was lighter than before he got in the car. His mother wouldn’t be happy. Disappointed wouldn’t even come close. She couldn’t look him in the eye. Not after what had happened.
Because of Beth.
Because of what they had done.

They destroyed how they lived.

He uncapped the bottle of whiskey and brought it to his lips. He paused and stared out at the river. It had started raining almost ten minutes ago, and in those ten minutes, his phone had rung a handful of times. Looking out the windshield, he was thankful the moonlight aided in his view of the river. Sam could just make out the raging waves. A sigh had left his lips before he threw back the alcohol and felt the burning on its way down his throat. Whiskey had never been his drink. The way the liquor scorched waves in his stomach was one he hated, but for Sam, he needed strong. He didn’t want weak beer.
He wanted to be numb.
To forget.
The ringing of his phone had him returning the bottle back to the seat next to him and picking it up. He saw Phillip Hall’s name flash on the screen—no doubt, his mother had called his best friend. Sam declined the call and threw his phone next to the empty bottle. It’d been over an hour since he’d run out of his house to his car. He drove to the bottle shop and then to the riverbank. It was too dark for anyone to notice his car, not unless they came close.
Sam curled his fingers tightly around the leather-wrapped steering wheel and let his forehead rest on it. He wouldn’t cry. He promised himself he wouldn’t. But the flash of Beth’s trembling lip had him sobbing. It had been a mistake. She had said that months ago, and now, that same mistake had caught up to them.
The alcohol had finally kicked in, and he no longer felt. Instead, he relished the numbness consumed by his body. He smiled and then belted out a heavy laugh.
“What the fuck has she done?” He leant back into the driver’s seat, and his hand searched the door for the handle.
The moment he found it, he opened the door and fell out of his Jeep, landing on his hands and knees. Sam ran his palms through the wet grass and rolled onto his back, laughing. Once he was able to get back on his feet, Sam lifted his arms up and down as if he were flying and stomped towards the riverbank. He let his feet sink, even squishing his shoes into the sloshy mud. He laughed like a child, continuing to march in the dark night.
When he had reached the edge of the bank, he watched the water rush past him. With the moonlight beaming from above, he was just able to see the river current drowning a log.
“I want to be that log,” Sam said as he bent down and unfastened his shoes. He removed them and placed them on the wet ground. Moisture seeped through his socks and hit his skin, causing his toes to wiggle.
“Sam?”
“Can’t save me,” he said to the sweet and gentle voice. “I need to be the log… I need to die.” He closed his eyes and leant forward, intending to fall into the cold water and never resurface.
To be free.
The impact of the water had him opening his eyes. The current was strong, trying to force him under. His instincts had him fighting against what he had wished for. Water rushed into his mouth, and he swallowed it for air, choking him. His arms fought against the strength of the river.
“Dutch, stay!” the voice commanded.
Sam turned his head to see her. She was on her stomach, reaching for his hand. His heart had drowned at the sight of her. The look of determination on her face was one he could not miss. Sam paddled—not to reach her but to get away from her.
To die quickly.
“Sam!” she screamed and reached out further, almost falling in.
I can’t let her die.
The sight of her instantly sobered him.
Not her.
Sam pulled his hand up from the water in time for her to take hold of it. He kicked his legs to get closer to the bank and to stop her from falling in. When he was close enough, she had tried to pull him out of the water, but Sam had fought her. He just wanted her to fall back on the ground.
“Stop fighting me!” she demanded loudly, tugging on his hand.
A wave hit him, dragging him under and pulling her entire arm into the water. It was a miracle he hadn’t dragged her with him. He broke through the surface, and his eyes met hers. It was too dark to see the colour, but he already knew they were a bright blue. Not dark enough to resemble the ocean, but not light like crystal clear water. The colour was somewhere between.
Sam coughed, trying to breathe in air. “My life isn’t worth much. Let me go, Meredith.”
Can’t let her die.
Not her.
She gripped his hand tighter, as if she knew he was moments away from letting the current take him.
Meredith blinked once, and the fear in her eyes left her. The determination had returned along with her tears.
Meredith Driessen was crying.
Because of him.
Because she thought he was about to die.
“Your life is important to me, Sam. The moment you give up, I’m following you,” Meredith said.
Don’t save me, Meredith.
His heart squeezed in a way it had never done before. He held Meredith’s hand tighter, his lifeline.
“You’d …”
Don’t let me live a life where I want you.
Meredith nodded. “Yes, Sam, I would. I wouldn’t hesitate.”
Don’t let me love you.
She wrapped her other hand around his arm and gave him a small smile. “Let me save you, Sam.”

This is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story is told from multiple point of view but mainly those of Meredith and Sam. The book starts off in a flash back to 7 years ago when both Meredith and Sam are teenagers at high school both secretly in love with each other. But Sam's ex-girlfriend Beth has an announcement that will change everyone's lives forever. The story then moves to present day and we catch up with Meredith and Sam each in their separate lives but fate has a way of bringing them both back together. Will fate win and everyone get their happy ending?

I really enjoyed Sam and Meredith's story. The only thing that caused me to not settle fully into the story was the amount of times we jumped from past to present. Each chapter was quite short and we skipped forward or back for each. However the short chapters made the book very fast paced and did keep me reading to find out the truth that Sam was hiding.

If you enjoy a good tear jerker then I definitely recommend this with a box of tissues at hand.

Wow this book had me going through an emotional maelstrom there were tears of joy and tears of sadness.  This is the 6th book in Kate Canterbary's Walsh series, however I read this novel as a standalone having somehow missed the authors other 5 books. Well that's not for much longer having read the Spire I simply have to read the other books to find out more about the 6 siblings stories.

Told in a joint POV style this book begins in the present and flashes back to the night Erin begins her 2 year journey back into the family fold. With the start of a relationship being the catalyst to her return this book along with standard chapters is made up of emails/texts between the various characters.  Put in the most simple way I can this book gives you 'feels' as you read, experiencing the highs and lows of Erin's life experiences. 5 stars

Summer Stephens knows what it's like to grow up with a Rock god as a father the dangers and exposure that could break a little girl in 2. Determined to protect Kadence despite her attraction to the little girls father and their past romantic interlude this social worker will do what's best for her charges.

This book was unusual in its telling as it's told from the point of view of 4 characters Jace, Summer, Kadence and the deceased Sydney in the form of letters given to Jace after her passing. My favourite character was Kadence she was cute and inquisitive and the perfect foil to see the bands lighter side. Much like the 1st books in the series reading Kadence gave me a book hangover as I just had to know what happened.

In my opinion Kadence was not the best book in Anne Mercier's Rock star series, that's not to say it was a bad book it wasn't. Well written and enjoyable just like Blush and the rest of the books in the series. I can honestly say that this book broke me! I was an emotional wreck from start to finish, having waited months for the release I can understand why there was a delay in the release the emotion was hard to read it must haven been doubly so to write. In tears from virtually the first chapter I was in a blubbering mess reading this book. Tissues at the ready for this 4.5 star read.
