Step into a world of paranormal that you would never expect when you read Claire Marie's Into the Shadows. I love paranormal books the energy as you read is unique when you begin wondering what the authors take will be on the world of fairy tale and the brothers grim. Full of different characters and an unusual plot line this book was an introduction to a brand new world, filled with Humans, Mutated Humans, paranormal and descendants.

Into the shadows chronicles the life of Ava as her world changes with the discovery that everyone in her family has lied to her and she's not what she always thought she was. For me this book was a little too descriptive in places. When it comes to paranormal books a plot/blurb needs to grab me and this certainly did however as I read the book didn't live up to my expectations.  There were just too many plots going on within the story. A little more expansion on the main story arc and I'll be honest a little more vigorous editing and this book could have easily been 5 stars.

At times as I read the story the main plot (that of Ava discovering her world isn't quite what she believed) was swallowed up by the simultaneous plots going on elsewhere in the book - Una's discovery she was paranormal too and the kidnapping plot of Ava by the corrupt government . All in all the book was quick to read and the characters kept me coming back for more. As a debut author the things I mentioned will probably be rectified as the author publishes more books and hones her editing/writing skills and gains experienced betas. All in all 3 stars.
