I’ve always loved a sports romance, there’s something about an athlete at the top of his game that gets my motor running, my main infatuation most recently Hockey players it’s all about the swivel and well squee......... Pippa Grant was a new author for me but hot damn I think having read beauty and the beefcake and enjoyed the book enough to research and add the other books in the series to my never ending TBR (they sound sooooooo good!!!!!!! she may fast become a mainstay in my TBR pile.
With a history of bad mistakes when it comes to choosing a love interest Felicity knows it’s time to have a hiatus from Men, with her latest bad mistake still smarting and holding hostage her belongings she knows its past time. But fate and her older brother have a way of interfering with her plans. With his team mate on the injured roster Nick Murphy knows this is the perfect opportunity to protect his little sister from her latest dating mistake. No one in there right mind would dare CEO’s Ares Berger the Thrusters enforcer. Little did he know that his bright idea is his worse mistake when his sister falls for his team mate.
Now beauty and the beefcake wasn’t without its flaws for me in places the characters were a little unbelievable ie the monosyllabic Hockey player who’s conversations mainly consisted of GIFS and Grunts, coupled with the lady of a 1000 voices well ok it’s actually 6 however despite the extremism Ares and felicity were a joy to read. Ares because so much was conveyed in by him despite the man of few words image. With felicity the quirky girl next door who didn’t realise just how attractive she was to the opposite sex with her funny voices and outgoing personality. In fact I recognised enough of myself (well I’d like to think I did anyway) in both Ares and Felicity that I was able to envisage myself as both the hunky hockey player and the quirky genius. For me the best books are those that bring you into the story as the characters you are reading, a fab 5 star read!
